OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION

The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the most popular scuba diving certification program in the world and provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified recreational scuba divers.

To enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course, you must be at least 10 years old (or 13 for Junior Open Water Diver certification) and have basic swimming skills. The course consists of three main components: knowledge development, confined water dives, and open water dives. Here's a detailed description of each component:

1. Knowledge Development: This component covers the theoretical aspects of scuba diving, including dive physics, physiology, equipment, dive planning, safety procedures, and environmental awareness. You have the option to study independently using the PADI Open Water Diver manual and other materials, or you can take part in classroom sessions, e-learning programs, or virtual courses led by a PADI Instructor. You'll complete knowledge reviews, quizzes, and a final exam to ensure your understanding of the material.

2. Confined Water Dives: In confined water, typically a swimming pool or calm shallow water, you'll practice and develop essential scuba diving skills under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. These dives focus on skills such as equipment assembly and disassembly, regulator and mask clearing, buoyancy control, underwater communication, emergency procedures, and more. The confined water dives allow you to become comfortable with the equipment and build confidence in your ability to handle various underwater scenarios.

3. Open Water Dives: The final component of the course involves completing a series of open water dives. You'll apply the knowledge and skills learned in the previous components to real-world diving situations under the guidance of a PADI Instructor. The maximum depth for open water dives during the PADI Open Water Diver course is 18 meters/60 feet.

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on safety, proper techniques, and responsible diving practices. The goal is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to dive safely within the limits of your training.

Keep in mind PADI book or e-Learning is not included.
